Personal Info

Dr. Geocaris is a Board Certified General Surgeon.  She received her undergraduate degree from the University of Wisconsin – Madison and medical degree from Loyola University Stritch School of Medicine in Maywood, Illinois.  She completed her residency in general surgery at the University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics in Madison.

She is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, a position that requires devotion to surgical practice and uncompromising adherence to the ethical standards of the College.  Fellows must have graduated from a medical school accepted by the College, be certified by the American Board of Medical Specialty, hold an unrestricted medical license to practice, and be a specialist in surgery.  This designation means that Dr. Geocaris’ education, training, surgical aptitude, professional experience and ethical conduct have passed a thorough evaluation and are consistent with the high standards expected of Fellows by the College.  Dr. Geocaris is also a Diplomate of the American Board of Surgery.  Certification as a Diplomate is voluntary and exhibits a surgeon’s dedication to continuous learning and providing superior care to patients.

Interests

Dr. Geocaris’ interests include minimally invasive laparoscopic surgery, robotic surgery, breast surgery, bariatrics, spine exposure, endoscopy, surgical oncology, vascular surgery, pediatric surgery, colorectal surgery, endovascular surgery and emergency trauma care.

She has a special interest in robotic surgery and is one of the most experienced robotic surgeons in Wisconsin, having performed approximately 1,500 such procedures, including robotic hernia repair.  Dr. Geocaris ran a case observation and teaching site for two years which focused on hernia repair as well as other robotic general surgical procedures on behalf of Intuitive Surgical, creator of one of the first robotic-assisted systems cleared by the Food and Drug Administration.  She lectures to and proctors surgeons in robotic surgery across the Midwest.

When Dr. Geocaris is not in the operating room, she is a busy wife and mother of 4 children.  She enjoys downhill skiing, yoga and tennis.  She is known for being a strong and passionate advocate for her patients and treats them like members of her family.
