Hemorrhoid Treatment & Surgery
Hemorrhoids can be a painful and irritating problem but are not life-threatening. Fortunately, there are many treatments available that provide relief. Most of these treatments do not involve surgery; however, removing the hemorrhoid may be necessary if other treatments are not successful.
Symptoms
Symptoms include pain or burning sensation, bleeding during bowel movements, protrusion of tissue from the anus and itching around the anus.
Causes
Causes include chronic constipation, straining during bowel movements, diarrhea, pregnancy and childbirth, strenuous exercise or heavy lifting. All are the result of too much pressure on the anal canal. Evaluation by a trained physician is necessary to confirm the presence of hemorrhoids and to rule out other more serious conditions.
Types of Hemorrhoids
Types of hemorrhoids are internal and external. Internal hemorrhoids often occur in clusters in the anal canal. They often bleed and sometimes protrude but are usually not painful. External hemorrhoids, located at the anal opening, occur when they develop a blood clot (thrombosed) and suddenly become painful. This often requires medical attention to relieve the pain.
Treatment
Treatment may be as simple as following a plan at home that is prescribed by the physician or in some cases surgical removal is necessary. There are several surgical options available depending on the type of hemorrhoid problem you have.
Insurance Taken
We accept most Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial insurance plans.
